How To Look After Gel Nails

With a little TLC, your gel nails will last longer. Here are our top tips for looking after your gel nails:

• Avoid doing tough jobs that are rough on your hands, such as gardening and household cleaning. Either get someone else to help or protect your nails by wearing a good pair of gloves!
• Do not pick your nails! Even if your gel polish is beginning to come off, do not pull it off as this is when you can damage your natural nail – instead, come into our Eastwood salon where we can soak them off or you can get a new set.
• If you paint over your gel nails, use acetone-free nail polish remover to take the polish off in a way that won’t damage the gel nails underneath.
• When it’s time to remove your gel nails, book an appointment with one of the professionals at The Eastwood Retreat so that we can remove the polish properly.

What's The Difference Between Gel Nails & Shellac?

You'll get gorgeous, glossy long lasting nail colour with both gel nails and shellac, but there is a subtle difference between the two.  Gel nails use a semi-permanent gel to colour your nails while Shellac is a mixture of gel and regular nail polish.   Both are great choices for a beautiful manicure.  They are very similar, but the addition of polish to Shellac means that it offers a fabulous shine, but can chip slightly more easily than gel.   On the plus side however, it is easier to remove.   Speak to your nail technician at The Eastwood Retreat who will help you decide on the best choice for you.
